With the new Carvex jigsaws, the carbide guidance adjustment is completely automatic and tool-free. No Chipping
You're probably familiar enough with other jigsaws to know that getting a clean cut is practically impossible, even with a fine-tooth blade. Festool's jigsaws make use of a zero clearance splinterguard that produces cuts virtually free of chips and tear-out, even when using a more aggressive blade in thin veneer plywood or melamine.
Stroboscopic LED Lights
The Carvex has four bright, white LEDs have surround the blade on all sides so there are no shadows from the blade that may make it difficult to distinguish your cut line. These LEDs will synchronize with the oscillation of the blade so that the blade appears to be moving very slowly, if at all. It is amazing!
Dust Collection
Festool is renowned for its incredible dust extraction and the Carvex is no exception. The lack of sawdust also improves your ability to guide the saw. A blower clears the path in front of the jigsaw in the event that you're not using dust extraction. The clear plastic chip guard on the front of the saw can be adjusted vertically so that you can find the right balance between capturing dust and having good blade visibility.
Blade Brake
The Carvex jigsaw has an integrated blade brake and blade guard. The brake ensures that the blade comes to a stop extremely quick once the jigsaw is turned off, a great safety feature. A metal blade guard is designed to keep objects from getting too close to the blade, again for safety.
Tool-Free Interchangeable Bases
Flip the base release lever to switch between a collection of task-specific bases available for the Carvex in seconds. Each of these bases is designed to give you astonishing results and save time. The Carvex currently has six purpose-designed bases to help you tackle your next project. The guide rail and trammel base, the hard fiber base, the angle base, the metal cutting base, the low-friction base and the felt base.
Brushless Motor to Bring the Power
Features a long-lasting, energy efficient brushless motor. Festool power tools are built to withstand your toughest demands. Don't get the impression that our tools are too delicate for the jobsite. Festool torture tests all of its power tools with some extreme conditions, many that you would never imagine doing to your own tool. Sure, many power tool manufacturer's may do a standard drop test where the tool is dropped from a distance onto a hard surface. We do that too. But, we also run the jigsaws through countertop materials for 120 hours, cut holes out of material the size of your little finger, make jizjag cuts to stress the blade, cut material too thick for the blade to pass completely through and blast it with abrasive sand while it's running.
Thermal and overload protection
The easiest way to kill a power tool is to push it beyond its capabilities resulting in a catastrophic failure. Festool jigsaws have integrated thermal and overload protection to prevent this from happening. Our jigsaws are smart enough to prevent themselves from being damaged. The motor and other components of the jigsaw are susceptible to failure if pushed beyond their limits. But, Festool's MMC electronics technology kicks in before those limits are exceeded to prevent damaging effects. The tool will simply shut off temporarily until it returns to temperatures and operating parameters.
