M42 is an exotic hard grade of High Speed Steel with more Cobalt and Vanadium for 35% longer life than HSS grade. It is great for surfacing most hardwoods. Reversible Tersa planer blades (double edge) fit the Tersa brand cutterheads. These knives are the original Swiss Made Tersa brand knives.
