The Makita 40V max XGT 3-Speed 1/2" Hammer Driver-Drill (GPH03) is Makita’s most powerful Hammer Driver Drill delivering 1,590 in.lbs. of max torque with a three speed transmission. The GPH03 breaks new ground for the most demanding drilling and driving applications in wood, masonry and metal. The hammer-drill mode applies a percussive motion for drilling holes in concrete or masonry.
The GPH03 features an electronic digital clutch that accurately targets the desired torque range during fastening (41 settings in low speed, 30 settings in medium, 21 settings in high). It features faster drilling speeds with 3 speed settings (0-650 / 0-1,800 / 0-2,400 RPM) (0-9,750 / 0-27,000 / 0-36,000 IPM).
The 3 Speed Hammer Driver Drill features Active Feedback-sensing Technology (AFT), which turns the motor off if rotation of the accessory is suddenly forced to stop. It also features twice the working speed without overloading batteries in Medium Speed.
The GPH03 features a redesigned side handle that provides stability and grip under heavy torque applications to maintain control. It also features an all-metal chuck for increased job site durability and a reinforced gear housing that is engineered for maximum job site durability.

It features digitally controlled modes for a wide variety of applications, including speed control and tightening modes to prevent sheet metal screw stripping.
The GDT04 features Tightening Mode (T-mode) for faster tightening of self-drilling screws in thin gauge metal, it also helps prevent damage to the screw or workpiece. The 4.0Ah High Power Battery is 34% more compact than a 40V max XGT 5.0Ah battery (BL4050F). The XGT High Power Battery is engineered to run up to 32% cooler while maintaining performance under continuous heavy load. The BL4040F reaches a full charge in 45 minutes or less, giving the user longer run times with less time spent on the charger. Battery charge level with 4 bright green L.E.D. indicators allows the user to clearly see charge level.
XGT batteries feature an advanced design impact-resistant outer case and shock-absorbing inner liner engineered to protect the battery in harsh job site environments.
